Ieds may come in many forms and may be camouflaged
Question:
Is it possible to detect IEDs?
Answer:
IEDs can come in different shapes and can be camouflaged, which is true. IED stands for “improvised explosive device.” This is a bomb that was made and used in a way that is not typical of military action. It could be made of regular military explosives, like an artillery shell, that are connected to a way to set them off. IEDs are often used as roadside bombs or as bombs that people make on their own. Bombings of U.S. marine and French paratrooper barracks in Beirut in 1983 were caused by larger vehicle-borne IEDs (car or truck bombs). IEDs were the primary weapon of the insurgents during the Iraq War and the Afghanistan War.
